JEAN ALESI has had a seat-fitting at McLaren - but the current drivers are not apparently too worried as the team is not about to hire the veteran Frenchman to race. It is not clear why McLaren has made a seat for Jean although these is speculation that he might be able to give the team some input because he is believed to be the only F1 driver available who has driven on both Michelin and Bridgestone tires (Heinz-Harald Frentzen is the other) having switched from Prost to Jordan last season. This may be an explanation although it should be noted that Jean has never been famous for his technical feedback.

Då skulle nog Wurz, Heidi och de andra som står i tur för en Mac-sits, jubla ifall Alesi fick köra om DC eller Räkan blev skadad...

Veckan efter Australien skall visst Alesi testa Mac(Autosport):

Retired Grand Prix veteran Jean Alesi will return to the Formula 1 cockpit this year in a one-off test drive for McLaren.

"Obviously, I'm looking forward to sitting behind the wheel of an F1 car again and I'm sure that driving a West McLaren Mercedes is going to be an experience," Alesi said. "I have no plans to return to F1 competition and am 100 percent committed to my DTM championship challenge with Mercedes-Benz. However a drive in a McLaren was missing from my CV and I'm really looking forward to the challenge."

Antingen satsar Mac på Alesi som erkänt duktig testförare, eller också vill de belöna och uppmuntra en lovande framtida ev. F1-stjärna.

Han skall tydligen få köra 16B, de är inte helt puckade McLaren.
