Här är en snodd intervju med Alesi..
Alesi enjoying life in DTM 16 Apr 2002
Jean Alesi appeared back in the F1™ racing world when he tested the McLaren MP4-17 for the day at Mugello. He spoke about his new life racing in the German DTM series, and his recent move from Avignon in France to Geneva in Switzerland.
"I have been testing a lot in DTM, it is good acceleration and deceleration. It has got all the attributes of a fast car but it is not as fast as this one," he said.
"This is a fast car! So I enjoyed it (testing the McLaren) very much and for me it is like a present - it is almost like a holiday for me doing something I enjoy so much.
"At the same time the team appreciates me. It is nice to be back again, after doing three days in Paul Ricard, but now I have to go and do some straight line testing (in his DTM car). I hope I will come back again as I enjoy it so much.
"As for the DTM I am really looking forward to it (the first race). It will be totally different to what I am used to. Do you know that the people are allowed into the pits and paddock and everywhere? It will be so different from what I have known for the last fifteen years. In a way it is better because it is a different atmosphere.
"Hockenheim is different (after the recent circuit overhaul). I tested it last week. I didn't test the big circuit because it is not completed but the little one is nothing like I used to know. The trees were gone, it is almost like a desert!
"Before you can say '1 lap' you can finish two - it only takes 59 seconds. They have resurfaced the track and it is absolutely perfect - it is perfect German work. It has no bumps and it is very grippy. So I really look forward to this race and I will try to stay out of trouble.
"(As for family life) we have really settled down in Geneva. Marie Helena (his daughter) started school in Geneva, which is a very good school, and close by there is a Japanese school.
"She goes there on Wednesday mornings for Japanese lessons (Alesi's partner Kumiko is Japanese). We really like it there. Also there are quite a few Japanese restaurants!
"My boy (Juliano) is now two and a half. He doesn't go to nursery, he stays at home. He seems to be quite happy. At the moment he is too busy jumping!
"He is such an energetic boy, he doesn't stop moving until seven at night, when he collapses and doesn't wake-up until seven the next morning."
